‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ Speaks to Wanni Troops

The popular ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ awareness programme of the Colombo Army Hospital with the objective of educating Army personnel on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) recently went to the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) and met with Officers and Other Rankers serving there.

A team of lecturers, comprised of the Consultant Physician, Brigadier A.S.M Wijewardhana, Obstetrician & Gynecologist (VOG), Colonel D.C.J Wickramaarachchi, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Ravimal Galappaththi, Physician Dr. K.G.N.U Jayasinghe and a team of professional psychologists of the Army Directorate of Psychological Operations delivered comprehensive lectures on NCDs, healthy foods, good health habits, drug addictions and alcoholism, etc. The sessions attended by 48 Officers and 392 Other Rankers took place on Friday (11) in the presence of Principal Staff Officers at the Wanni Headquarters and Officers.

Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander Security Forces - Wanni considering the impact of NCDs on members of the 'Rata Rakina Jathiya' which sprout as a result of adverse health habits and sedentary life styles, took the initiative in inviting project coordinators to deliver those lectures since ‘Health is Wealth’.
