The pet project of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) ‘Paabala Mela’, the flagship fund-raiser, was opened to the public on Friday (18) evening at Hikkaduwa public grounds.
The variety entertainment, organized by all ranks of the SLLI for the third consecutive year is aimed at collecting funds for welfare work of SLLI War Heroes, families of fallen or missing War Heroes and disable ones.
Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI ceremonially opened the mega event late in the evening and went round the site and visited stalls and all entertaining features, together with several senior officers. A large crowd afterwards entered the premises for enjoyment and relaxation.
The chain of stalls that market household items, food varieties, accessories, electric appliances, furniture, hardware, clothes, garments, etc will remain open until next Tuesday (22) for five days.
Popular music bands such as Sakura, Arrow Star, Flash Back, Sunflowers, Sanidapa are set to provide music on all five nights.
