Youngsters in Jaffna Hindu - Buddhist Cultural Association Learn About Sinhala Culture & Language

A group of 300 young ladies and gentlemen, attached to the Hindu - Buddhist Cultural Association in the Jaffna peninsula on Sunday (24), in what can be regarded as a best example for co-existence, mutual understanding and reconciliation, assembled at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) auditorium in order to receive basic knowledge on Sinhala etiquettes, customs, religious rites and rituals, dress codes, leadership, dining table manners, prevention from drugs, etc.

The arrangement, conceptualized by Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) got underway in the form of a full-day workshop, and also aimed at imparting them broader knowledge on Sinhala dialects and linguistic nuances of expression since all the attendees are capable of talking and writing in Sinhala language, although their mother tongue is Tamil.

Appreciating his corporation, Mr M.T.C Ramachandran, Secretary to Hindu Buddhist Cultural Association - Jaffna was awarded a memento by Commander SF-J who attended the inauguration of the workshop, lectured by experts in the Army, including the Jaffna Commander himself.
