A War Heroes’ commemoration ceremony, to salute fallen tri service and Police heroes in the Northern Province was held on Wednesday (17) at the War Heroes Monument in Palaly.
The event was organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority and Governor’s Office, Northern Province with the assistance of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J).
Mr. H.M.G.S. Palihakkara, Governor, Northern Province graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
After a two-minute silence to honour the fallen heroes, Mr. Palihakkara placed a floral wreath at the monument. Afterwards, Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, Chairperson, Ranaviru Seva Authority, Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander, SFHQ-J, and officers representing other services and Police paid floral tributes to the monument.
District Secretaries, Commanders of SFHQs in the Northern Province, Senior administrative officials and tri service and Police personnel were also present at the event.
