War Heroes’ Contribution Further Recognized; Land Blocks & New Houses Distributed

780 more newly-built houses, partly-funded new houses and land plots for War Heroes under the 'Ranaviru Abhimanata Sathviru Urumaya’ Housing Scheme of the Ministry of Defence were formally vested with family members of fallen War Heroes, disabled War Heroes and a section of serving War Heroes during a ceremony at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute this morning (12) under the patronage of HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The ceremony attended by Hon Minister Daya Gamage, Minister of Primary Industries, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijeyagunarathne and Inspector General of Police, Mr. Pujith Jayasundara saw total of 209 War Heroes of the Army receive those benefits.

209 Army personnel, 95 Sailors and 66 Airmen who had actively contributed to restoration of peace in Sri Lanka during the humanitarian operations, were eligible to accept those fully-funded new houses, partly-funded new houses and land blocks under this ‘Ranaviru Abhimanata Sathviru Urumaya’ housing project of the Ministry of Defence.

Under this project 41 Army personnel received land plots in Dambulla and Uhana Divisional Secretariats for construction of their own houses. 108 Army War Heroes on the same occasion received completely-built houses while a total of 60 Army personnel received Rs 750,000/= each for completion of their half-built houses.

40 beneficiaries during the ceremony symbolically accepted the keys and certificates for their new houses, partly-built houses and land plots. HE the President Maithripala Sirisena congratulating them gave away those keys and certificates.

Ministers, secretaries, senior officials and tri-forces personnel were present at the occasion.
