Wanni SFHQ Gives Prominence to Religious Events in Anniversary Commemoration

Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) in Vavuniya commemorated its 18th anniversary on Wednesday (23) giving prominence to religious observances.

The initial stage of the commemoration ceremony started transferring merits on fallen War Heroes. A Bodhi Pooja on the previous day was conducted by Ven. Kirigalwewe Wimalasara Thero of Madukanda Temple after a special oration.

The Commander, SF-W Major General J.R Kulathunga, together with all officers and other ranks serving the SFHQ-W attended the Bodhi Pooja and the religious event before military formalities got underway.

Formal military ceremony began on the anniversary day (23) after the Commander was greeted to a Guard Turnout by the troops of SFHQ-W at the main entrance upon his arrival.

The SF-W Commander afterwards received the salute in the Guard of Honour, presented by his troops in the company of the parade commander.

Afterwards, the Commander, SF-W planted a Sandal sapling in the camp premises to coincide with the anniversary.

The Commander, SF-W afterwards addressed all ranks and took part in an all-rank lunch.

In the evening, a musical entertainment programme entertained the troops, bringing anniversary events to end.

All General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, officers and other rankers participated in the arrangements.
