Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Jagath Gunawardena together with some well-known Sri Lanka’s veteran singer Mr Sunil Edirisinghe, former Cricketer Mr Thilakarathne Dilshan, and Mr Anura Eliyapura from ‘Jathika Urumayan Surakeeme Maha Sammelanaya’, contributed to construct a Pagoda at Thiruwegama Sri Bodhirukkharama Temple and renovate the village tank in Alagalla, Irattaperiyakulam.
Laying of the foundation stone to construct the Pagoda and inauguration of the tank renovation took place on Tuesday (20) at this interior village in the presence of the veteran singer Mr Sunil Edirisinghe, former Cricketer Mr Thilakarathne Dilshan, and Mr Anura Eliyapura from ‘Jathika Urumayan Surakeeme Maha Sammelanaya’ who provides finance to launch this worthy project.
A pagoda for this remote temple was a long-felt need for a number of devotees who pay their homage by visiting the temple. The necessity of a Pagoda was highlighted by the Chief Incumbent of Thiruwegam Sri Bodhirukkharama Temple. SFHQ-W on the directions of Commander, Security Forces - Wanni promptly coordinated with this organisation. Renovation of the village tank will be another added social welfare activity launched to coincide with the construction project and it will also be sponsored by this philanthropic organization.
The ceremony of laying the foundation stone to construct the Pagoda and commencement of the renovation of the tank was graced by General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Major General Kumar Jayapathirana on behalf of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni.
Representing SFHQ-W, the Civil Affairs Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Lal Kithsiri, Civil Affairs Officer of 211 Brigade Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Chaminda Dissanayake, Senior Officers, Officers along with some Other Ranks, a large number of devotees in Alagalla and Irattaperiyakulam areas too were present during the event.
