Visiting Nepal's Army Chief Speaks to DSCSC Student Officers

 
The visiting Nepal's Chief of Army Staff, General Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, commenced his itinerary on Monday (3) morning after a visit to the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda. General Rana, a personal associate of his Sri Lanka's counterpart, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake is currently in Sri Lanka on a six-day visit.
 
General Rana on arrival at the DSCSC at Sapugaskanda was warmly received by Commandant DSCSC Major General N. J Walgama and conducted to the officers’ mess before commencement of the day’s programme. A briefing on the DSCSC roles and mandate and training slots, that have been so far awarded to Nepalese armed officers at the DSCSC.
 
The stage was then set to listen to General Rana at the DSCSC auditorium on the invitation of the DSCSC Commandant.  During his address to the student officers, he recalled friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal for generations and uninterrupted conduct of training programmes for Nepalese military officers.
 
Prior to his departure from the DSCSC, the Commandant Major General N. J Walgama presented the visiting Nepal's military chief with a special memento as a token of goodwill and appreciation of his visit to the DSCSC.
 
Meanwhile, the spouse of the visiting General Mrs Rohini Rana, accompanied by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Unit, visited Mihindu Seth Medura, the centre where disabled War Heroes are being rehabilitated. She admired the steps taken for rehabilitation of disable War Heroes and a gift handcrafted by the inmates was presented to the visiting lady by the inmates.
