Visiting Bangladesh NDC Team Calls on Commander of the Army

The visiting 28 member Bangladesh National Defence College (NDC) student officer delegation Monday (27) morning called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at Army Headquarters.

Brigadier General Humayun Bakht, Head of the Delegation along with Brigadier General A.K.M Fariduzzaman, both from the Bangladesh Army met the Commander of the Army at his office and exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest and regional security. The delegation who also showed a keen interest in the recently-concluded humanitarian operations that wiped out terrorism from the country, received a related briefing from the Commander of the Army.

The 28 member delegation, comprises of student officers from Armed Forces of Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Bangladesh Civil Service.  

The visiting NDC delegation added more significance to the occasion when they presented a souvenir to the Commander as a token of memory and goodwill towards the end of the cordial meeting. Lieutenant General Jayasuriya reciprocated with his memento before the delegation left the Commander’s office. Bangladesh High Commission’s Defence Attaché was also associated with the meeting.

Later on, the delegation during an interactive session at the officers’ mess at Army Headquarters received a comprehensive account regarding recent humanitarian operations from the Army’s Director of Operations.

The delegation during their ten day stay in Sri Lanka is expected to call on the Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force, Commander of the Navy, Inspector General of Police, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, External Affairs Ministry officials, Security Forces Commanders in Jaffna and the East, Bangladesh High Commissioner, Naval Area Commanders in Jaffna and the East, , BOI officials, Parliament officials and several other leading public officials and visit the Defence Service Command and Staff College at Sapugaskanda and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. They are also expected to visit places of historical, cultural and religious interest towards the latter part of their stay in the island.
