The Inter Regiment Handball Tournament concluded on Wednesday (27) at the Gymnasium, Army Cantonment, Panagoda with the participation of a large number of sportsmen and women representing 12 Regiments and 4 Units of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC).
The final tussle between Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) teams saw victory clinched by handball players of the VIR.
The trophy was presented to the winners by the Chief Guest, Major General Dampath Fernando, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters.
In the women’s category 3 (V) SLAWC secured the championship for the year 2017 defeating 1 SLAWC players.
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and Commander, Security Forces –Kilinochchi was also present at the occasion.
Major General Bimal Vidanage, Chairman, Army Handball Committee, a few senior Officers, players and Other Rankers witnessed the finals at Panagoda.
