Vesak Arrangements of SFHQ-E Attract Huge Crowds

Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) as its sister headquarters elsewhere did, contributed to the success of annual Vesak celebrations by way of preparing elaborate arrangements.

A Vesak zone, organized at its Welikanda Headquarters premises comprised a large number of features, including a lantern competition, Dansela and support given to nearby temples for conduct of Vesak programmes. Several hundreds of Vesak sight-seers and devotees enjoyed rice and curry Dansela, manned by soldiers serving the SFHQ-E.

Meanwhile, more than 150 tri-service personnel of the SFHQ-E, directed by Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E on Vesak Full Moon Day (May 24), joined other devotees at Dimbulagala Temple to observe Sil.

In the meantime, troops serving the Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) of the SFHQ-E conducted a Dansela, devotional song presentation (Bhakthi Gee) and a Vesak lantern competition on account of the thrice-blessed day, ‘Vesak’. Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E opened the arrangements as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Commander, FMA.

Meanwhile, 224 Brigade troops of 22 Division provided alms and refreshments to students observing Sil at Muttur Sinhala Central College on May 21 as part of their contribution to the Vesak festival in the area.
