Veherathenna Re-settlers Get Incentives for Livelihood

Provision of all possible assistance to the resettled people for promotion of their livelihood in Veherathenna village in Vavuniya continues under the aegis of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-(W)).

Sponsorships provided by Malaria Control Campaign and Colombo ‘Jayagrahanaya’ organization saw more than 250 families of this village receive PVC water pipes, sanitary pots for lavatories and mosquito nets during a brief ceremony held on Sunday (5) at Veherathenna.

Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-(W) gave away those items to the villagers as the Chief Guest attending the distribution ceremony.

At present, a total of 356 families have already been resettled in the village and plans are afoot to erect 500 new houses under the government’s resettlement programme, now underway.

Padaviya Public Health Inspector, Mr Pradeep Dharmarathna coordinated the programme, supported by the SFHQ-(W) and the 62 Division Headquarters. People of Veherathenna and a large gathering participated in the day’s event.
