Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) marked its 19th anniversary with a series of events during 19-26 November, headed by Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W).
As the first segment, a Bodhi Pooja, conducted by the Chief Incumbent at Madukanda Temple, Vavuniya, Ven. Kirigallawe Wimalasara Thero on Sunday (19) near the shrine in the camp premises, invoked blessings on the anniversary.
The military segment of the formal ceremony commenced with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour accorded by the troops of 8 Field Sri Lanka Engineers. General Officers Commanding of all Divisions, Commander, FMA-W, all Brigade Commanders and a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing all Divisions attended the formalities.
Later on, the Wanni Commander added memories to the occasion by planting a red sandalwood sapling in the camp premises.
A group photo taken with all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Staff Officers at the Headquarters added significance to the event. Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Other Rankers had a separate photo session as memories.
In the same evening, the Commander, SF-W was invited to a get-together at the Corporals' club and at the Warrant Officers' & Sergeants' Mess as social features. Major General Kumudu Perera as the Chief Guest took part in both social interactions.
In addition to that, an All Rank dinner on Saturday (25) followed a colourful musical entertainment, rich with performances of the Army Dancing Team on Sunday (26). The occasion was graced by the Commander, SF-W as the chief guest.
