Vaddakachchi Celebrates New Year Spirits

573 Brigade of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) had its Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival on Tuesday (17) at Vaddakachchi Public grounds under the guidance of Colonel Janaka Ranasingha, Brigade Commander, 573 Brigade. It was aimed to enhance cultural bonds of both Tamils and Sinhalese Civilians.

Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division graced the festivities as the Chief Guest.

Lighting of the traditional oil lamp signified the commencement of the event. The festival included a variety of traditional and customary games. More than 1000 locals took part in the event and sheared New Year spirits and joy with military personnel.

All Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and all Other Ranks of the 57 Division participated in the event.
