US Military Cadets Call at SFHQ-J

A team including students and instructors at the US Military Academy at West Point visited the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Wednesday (27) as a part of a familiarization tour.

The team, comprised of Colonel Liam Collins, Director, Defence and Strategic Studies, together with Dr. Lionell Beehner, Assistant Professor, Department of Military Instructions USA, three Military Instructors and Five Cadets in the USA Military Academy met with Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, SFHQ-J.

The visiting team was warmly welcomed by Colonel Udaya Kumara, Colonel General Staff, SFHQ-J on arrival.

Colonel Udaya Kumara, Colonel General Staff, SFHQ-J conducted a presentation on ‘Role and Responsibilities of the SFHQ-J and Military Assistance to post-Conflicts Scenario’ for the observation of the visitors.

Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces- Jaffna (SF-J) interacted with them answering their questions afterwards and explained the SFHQ-J welfare measures.  

Major Ryan Morgan and Ms Temeisha Henry of the US Embassy in Sri Lanka also participated in the programme.

Subsequently, the SF Commander presented a memento to Colonel Liam Collins as a token of goodwill and memory of the visit to the Jaffna peninsula.

Finally, Colonel Liam Collins left his signature in the Visitors’ Book to mark his visit to the SFHQ-J.
