US Cadets Learn about SLLI Achievements at Its Regimental Headquarters

A team of 11 cadets of the US armed forces on a familiarization tour in Sri Lanka called at the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) on Thursday (24).

The visit enabled them to get a glimpse of SLLI historical facts and learn its past experiences, its battlefield gains, strategic approaches, launched for eradication of separatist terrorism, resettlement, relocation, resettlement, etc and how the SLLI contributed to the eradication of terrorism.

Colonel Anura Dissanayake, Deputy Centre Commandant, SLLI extended a warm welcome to the visiting USA cadets and took them at first to see the SLLI's ‘Abhiman Mudunata’ state-of-the-art memorial where they paid homage to the War heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the motherland.

Those 11 cadets also visited the SLLI Museum which bears testimony to its glorious history before they sat before a presentation on the SLLI's historical journey as the mother regiment to all other regiments in the Army.

A panel of SLLI Officers, Colonel M.G.A. N.B Mahathuwakkara, Colonel S.D Udayasena, Lieutenant Colonel G.A.D.K.G Ganegoda, Lieutenant Colonel W.K.S.P.M.R.A.B Dodamwala, Major H.N.M.B. Gunarathne, Major M.A.A.P Perera and Major H.A.J. Arachchi educated those US cadet officers during the presentation.

Before their departure, they all sat together with Officers for a lunch treat at the SLLI mess.
