Update: Army Donates Exercise Books & Relief Packs for Affected Students in Salawa

Sri Lanka Army troops, engaged in reconstruction and relief work in affected Salawa - Kosgama areas commenced distribution of exercise books among affected 250 students at Akaravita Maha Vidyalaya during a symbolic ceremony, held at Akaravita Vidyalaya - Kosgama this morning (23).

Representing the Commander of the Army who initiated the project, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West, attended the main inaugural ceremony at the above venue by donating books to a representative gathering of 45 students in the presence of Mr Bandara Mapa, Divisional Secretary for Seethawaka, Ms D.M.S.K Dissanayake, Zonal Education Director for Seethawaka, principals, teachers, several state officials and parents.

The programme has been designed to cover students in Grade 1 - 10 to suit their needs.

Students at the Defence Services School, Panagoda volunteered to organize those book parcels, following a suggestion, made by the Principal at Defence Services School, Panagoda and Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West.

In the meantime, a total of 30 dry ration parcels were distributed among selected families in the area. The Chief Incumbent at Boralugoda Sri Wardhanaramaya, distributed those relief parcels which had been donated to the Commander of the Army.
