UN Flag Handed Over to 12th UN Contingent of Sri Lanka Army Proceeding to Haiti

THE PARADE to hand over the UN flag to the 12th contingent of Sri Lanka Army’s Peace-Keeping Force bound for Haiti on 30th June 2010 for a period of six months was held yesterday (Saturday 12) at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Headquarters in Ambepussa.

The contingent comprising 749 soldiers is to be commanded by Colonel A.M.R  Dharmasiri while Lieutenant Colonel K Liyanage will function as the Second in Command. Lieutenant Colonel C.U Marasinghe is to join as the Logistic Officer.

This is the third time Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment is sending a contingent to Haiti on UN Peacekeeping missions. Officers and soldiers of other regiments too will join this contingent.

Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Colonel of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Major General D.R.A.B Jayathilaka was the Chief Guest during the parade.
