Twelve Farming Organizations Receive SLNSA Loans for Cultivations

Sri Lanka-Netherlands Scholars Association (SLNSA) with the sheer objective of promoting agricultural industry in Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaittivu, Welioya and other farming areas has come forward to assist 12 agricultural organizations operating in those respective areas.

The scheme of the SLNSA included a repayable loan system that distributed a sum of Rs 9 lakhs among those farmers in 12 farming organizations. The event for distribution of those loans took place on Tuesday (16) during a brief ceremony at Mathachaithyakulam Computer Centre in Vavuniya.

Mr S.P.C Kumarasinghe, Chairman, SLNSA, Mr J Paranamanna, Vice Chairman, SLNSA, Mr S.M.S.B Niyangoda, Treasurer, SLNSA representing the association in Netherlands attended the ceremony where Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni presided. Distribution of those loan facilities has been coordinated by Civil-Military Coordinating officers in different related areas after verifying bona fides of those organizations.

Major General Perera highlighting the importance of such loan facilities that would directly affect the enhancement of agro products in the region called upon the recipients to use them sparingly and effectively since sums of those loans could be increased only with the success, achieved through this pilot project.

The gathering included Chairmen and selected office-bearers in all the Agricultural Associations, senior officers and farmers. Cheques to this effect were delivered to those farmers by SLNSA representatives and Major General A.K.S Perera.
