Troops Under SFHQ-E Formations Listen to Sinhala Professor

More than 1,000 troops including officers of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) recently listened to an interesting lecture on ‘Sinhala language, its usage, evolution and linguistics’, delivered by the well-known emeritus professor of Sinhala, Dr J.B Dissanayake during a recent meeting at the SFHQ-E, Welikanda.

Prof. Dissanayake touching his own experiences, spanning more than four decades explained the gathering how the words in Sinhala have been coined and used in various contexts from time immemorial and underlined the timely need for the language’s correct usage and pronunciation.

The scholar arrived at the SFHQ-E at the invitation of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East. The attendees represented all formations under command to the SFHQ-E.

A symbolic memento was also delivered to the visiting scholar in appreciation of his lecture.
