Troops Transport Stranded Civilians

16 Gajaba Regiment (GR) Troops deployed in Mahawewa area got busy today (26) with transporting civilians from Mahawewa Junction to Thaniwella Devalaya, Madampe which have been completely covered with flood water.

The civilians in those areas were trapped and transportations have been completely blocked due to the increased water level which had covered more than 2 km in the area. Troops of the 16 GR assisted those civilians to cross the water covered area by transporting on boats.

Meanwhile Troops of the 9 Gemunu Watch (GW) serving under 582 Brigade of 58 Division succeeded in rescuing 9 displaced civilians of 3 families using a boat and they were taken to Silawansharamaya Temple in Ratiyala in Rathnapura area on Friday (25).

Meanwhile troops from the same Division got busy in cleaning a flood affected house in Paragoda, Dabala area in Bulathsinhala Divisional Secretariat. 13 troops from 9 Gemunu Watch (GW) assisted in cleaning the debris and mud collected in the house.
