Troops Support Patients Donating Blood

Troops of 221 and 222 Brigades of the 22 Division and the 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) continued to organize community projects in order to further boost existing relations between the civil society and Army personnel serving the areas.   

Troops of 2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) on Monday (17) carried out a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clean the premises of Glennie Girls’ Home, Trincomalee as the place remained unclean and full of wild bushes.
    
On the same day, 27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 222 Brigade distributed drinking water among drought-hit families at Ilangathurei village, Trincomalee.
    
Meanwhile, Ven. Kithulgama Hemasara Thero at Viwekarama Temple, Mirihana sponsored the distribution of dry ration packets, each worth Rs. 25000/= to 25 temples in the 23 Division area. The coordination work of the project was done by the 23 Division troops.

The same monk distributed a stock of spectacles among 200 civilians with visual impairment on the same day at the ceremony at Pancha Maha Viharaya in Punani. A large gathering of civilians attended the occasion.   

On Tuesday (11), 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops serving the 221 Brigade at Gomarankadawala, donated blood to the hospital at Gomarankadawala for the use of patients.

More than 55 officers and other ranks gave blood during the programme. Medical officers thanked the Army for its concern towards the patients.
