Troops of SLAPC Regiment Mark Their First Anniversary

Troops of Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (SLAPC) Regiment recently commemorated its first anniversary at its Regimental Headquarters Pelawatta, Mathugama.

Before establishing the Regimental Headquarters of the SLAPC on 16 February 2016 at Pelawatta, it functioned as the 1 SLAPC Battalion since it saw its birth on 5 July 1957, after it was originally founded under the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The anniversary celebration of the newly raised regiment had its 1 anniversary marked after the SLAPC was raised to status of a regiment beginning 16 February 2016.

The Centre Commandant, SLAPC was greeted a Guard Turnout on arrival at the Headquarters premises.

The day's ceremony included a floral-wreath laying ceremony in memory of fallen SLAPC War Heroes and a two-minute silence at the Regimental monument.

During the ceremony, a Mango sapling was also planted by the Regimental Centre Commandant.

Afterwards, a treat of fruit juice was conducted at the Non Commissioned Officers Mess under the concept of the ‘Healthy Army Healthy Nation’.

At the end of the day’s event, a musical show after the certificate awarding to the Officers and Other Ranks entertained the gathering.

All SLAPC Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s event.
