On directions given by Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), troops serving 22 Division continue their welfare projects in specific areas for the benefit of low-income group families.

One of those projects, a Mobile Medical Camp, took place recently at Mollipothana Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya with the sponsorship provided by District 206 1 A Balapitiya Lions Club. Over 300 patients received medical consultations and medicine from this clinic and a stock of 250 pairs of spectacles were also distributed among patients with eye sight defects on the same occasion.

Distribution of books among poor students, parcels of nutrients among pregnant women and essentials among Thamabalagamuwa and Kinniya civilians, occurred on the same day following arrangements, made by 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops serving the 22 Division.

The medical camp, the first in the area became so popular that people wanted one more similar project be organized as early as possible.

Medical Officers, Pradeep, Bathiya and eye surgeon, Dr Sampath of Balapitiya District Hospital provided their service for the conduct of the medical camp at the request of Balapitiya Lions Club.

Brigade Commander 224 Brigade, Senior Officers and Senior Citizens in the area supported the project.
