The volleyball tournament among schools in Welioya area that got underway at the 62 Division Outdoor Volleyball Court premises of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), drew to a close on Thursday (30).
The tournament was organized by the 62 Division of the SFHQ-W with the sponsorship of the Nestle (Pvt) Ltd in order to promote sports among schools in the Welioya area.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W was invited to watch the finals as the Chief Guest by Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding of the 62 Division.
Mahasen Maha Vidyalaya team and Parakramapura Maha Vidyalaya team clinched championships in male and female categories of the tournament.
Teachers and parents highly appreciated the efforts being taken by the 62 Division for promotion of volleyball in the area. Officers, other ranks, teachers, school children in the area were among those who were present to witness the finals.
Commander, SFHQ-W and a Sales executive of Nestle (Pvt) Ltd gave away certificates, medals and trophies to the winners.
