Troops Fill Water Retention Spots with Water for Mullaittivu Animals

Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) in what can be defined as the concern that they have towards the natural habitat and sustenance of wildlife took timely measures to provide drinking water to wild animals and birds who remain affected due to prevailing drought like weather with water retention spots in specific areas of the Muththiyankattukulam forest reserve covering a part of the Muththiyankattukulam and Udayarkattukulam road in Oddusudan, Mullaittivu District.

The project that gave life to the animals in jungles was launched on a suggestion made by Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) who paid special attention to that aspect of wild habitat.

64 Division troops on the directions of the Commander, SF-MLT found out the water retention spots in the forest reserve and used Army bowsers to fill those spots with water brought by the Army from elsewhere.

It is believed that the Army’s provision of water to these places would help wildlife survive in the phase of worsening weather condition.

The bowser water of the Army will continue to be provided to those affected areas until the rainy season begins.
