Troops Facilitate Jaffna Civilians to Receive Indigenous Medicines

Considering the interest Jaffna civilians have in indigenous herbal medicine (Ayurvedic treatment), the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) with the coordination of the 523 Brigade Headquarters of the 52 Division and the Department of Indigenous Medicine of the University of Colombo, held a mobile Ayurvedic clinic on Wednesday (17) at Chavakachcheri Cultural Centre.

More than 300 civilians, resident in Jaffna area reached the clinic and received medical consultations and instructions on preventive aspects of various non communicable diseases. Six Ayurvedic physicians and more than 25 trainee physicians of the University of Colombo took part in the mobile clinic.

During the camp, a stock of medicine was also distributed free of charge among the patients. At the invitation of Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division and Brigadier Tikiri Dissanayake, Brigade Commander, 523 Brigade, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) attended the inauguration of the mobile clinic, together with Dr M.H.M Hafeel, Senior Lecturer, Department of Indigenous Medicine of the Colombo University as distinguished guests.

During the clinic, 523 Brigade troops provided refreshments to the attendees and other facilities. The medical team expressed their gratitude to the Army for the initiative.
