Troops Encourage Civilians for Cultivation of Jack in Kilinochchi

Troops of the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on a suggestion made by Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi (SF-KLN), distributed approximately 1500 Jack plants of economic value among 275 selected families in Thoddiadi area in Kilinochchi district during a recent ceremony.

The event got underway under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Division, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya and with the coordination of the Brigade Commander, 572 Brigade Colonel Lal Wijetunge.

The project to be in line with 'Api Wawamu - Rata Nagamu' national drive was meant to assist uplift living standards of 275 families in the area who have space for plantations since those plants would bear fruits during a short span of time. Earlier too, a few more such distributions of plants of economic value took place in several other areas of the SFHQ-KLN.
