Troops Donate Blood for Patients in Jaffna Teaching Hospital

Members of 5 Corps of Engineer Service (CES) at Kankesanturai serving the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) at the request of the Jaffna Blood Bank in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital donated blood on Friday (20) at their camp premises for the use of patients in the Teaching Hospital.

During the humanitarian project, Major Priyantha Hettiarachchi, Commanding Officer 5 CES, 06 Officers and 203 other rankers offered their blood for the benefit of patients since the Blood Bank has run short of blood for urgent surgeries.

A team of Sri Lanka Blood Bank in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, headed by Dr. T. Visvethithan, of Blood Bank, Jaffna along with his staff gave their assistance to the arrangement.

With the blessings of the Commander of the Army, the SFHQ-J, commanded by Major General Mahesh Senanayake has supported the arrangement.
