Troops Donate Blood for Patients in Jaffna Teaching Hospital

Members of 6 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) serving the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) at the request of the Jaffna Blood Bank in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital donated blood on Tuesday (29) at their camp premises for the use of patients in the Teaching Hospital.

During the humanitarian project, Lieutenant Colonel Idunil Hewaarachchi, Commanding Officer 6 SLSC, 31 Officers and other rankers offered their blood for the benefit of patients since the Blood Bank has run short of blood.

A team of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society in Jaffna, headed by Mr. K Balakrishnan and Ms M. Sivanija with her staff after giving their assistance to the arrangement, carried the collected the blood stock to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

With the blessings of the Commander of the Army, the SFHQ-J, commanded by Major General Mahesh Senanayake has approved the SOS requirement.
