9 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 142 Brigade of the 14 Division on being informed by civilians of a heavy flood water blockage near the bridge at Ambatale Water pump rushed to the location and cleared it within hours before water levels spill and cause havoc in the area on Thursday (24).
With increase of torrential rains, waters that flow from Mulleriyawa through Kelvimalla canal across a bridge near the water pump had got blocked due to garbage and other elements being drifted in flood water.
Troops attended to the emergency and cleaned the blockage enabling receding waters to flow without any hindrance within a matter of three hours.
