A full-day Shramadana campaign conducted by about 400 soldiers in and around sacred Wattapalai Amman Kovil, scheduled to hold its annual Pongal festival in Mullaittivu, was joined by local civilians on Sunday (25).
Following a request, Major General N.A.J.C Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) directed the troops to conduct this community service as a symbol of religious harmony and reconciliation.
Refreshments were also provided to the civilians by Army troops during the self-help project.
Meanwhile, SFHQ-MLT went an extra mile and repainted the main entrance of Wattapalai Amman Kovil on account of the forthcoming Pongal ceremony.
