Trincomalee Islamic Leaders Join Army Organized 'Ifthar' Ceremony


Trincomalee-based 22 Division Headquarters lent its helping hand to foster religious harmony and amity among all communities by holding a ‘Ifthar’ (fast breaking) ceremony on Tuesday (14) at the Headquarters premises.

More than 46 members of Ulama congregations of Islamic faith, together with Maulavis of Trincomalee town, Pulmudai, Kuchchaweli, Kinniya, Muthur, Thopur, Thambalagamuwa and Kantale areas attended the occasion, held on a grand scale. After Islamic prayers were conducted, the formal fast breaking took place by swallowing a glass of water by the devotees.

Major General S.A.A.L Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E), Brigadier A.M Weerasuriya, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, senior Army officers and several other invitees witnessed the religious ritual.
