Tri Service Troops in Colourful Guard of Honour Greet Tajikistan President

Tri-service troops including Sri Lanka Army had the distinguished honour of presenting the Guard of Honour to the visiting HE the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon at the Presidential Secretariat premises in Colombo Tuesday (13) morning.

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena during this formal state welcome ceremony greeted him to military honours in the presence of the Ministers, diplomats and a gathering of government officials.

HE the President Emomali Rahmon is on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, received the Tajikistan President on arrival at the venue and ushered him to the saluting dais along with Air Chief Marshal K.A Gunatilleke, Chief of Defence Staff to receive the military salute in accordance with formalities.

Guard of Honour was comprised of 4 officers and 96 Service personnel of the tri services with colours squad.

2 officers and 33 other ranks of the Gemunu Watch (GW) in the Army contributed to the Guard of Honour.

The cultural troupe made up of tri service artistes coloured the state reception.

Afterwards, Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Gun Battery fired 21 rounds and saluted the State Guest, bringing the welcome ceremony to an end.
