The 28th General Convocation of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was held during 1 - 2 November 2018 at the BMICH with Hon Wijedasa Rajapaksha, Minister of Higher Education gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest of the final session of the Convocation.
The event was held with the participation of the Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Service Commanders, the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of the KDU, Vice Chancellors of Sri Lankan Universities, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Admin), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Rector (Southern Campus, KDU), All Deans, Academic & Non Academic Staff of KDU, Senior Officers of Tri Services, Military and Civilian Graduates and their parents and the relatives.
The KDU is the only university in the island which offers higher education opportunities for both military and civilian personnel in a disciplined environment. One thousand two hundred and fifteen (1215) students in 8 different faculties graduated at this year’s Convocation. Two PhD degrees, 213 Masters’ degrees, 1000 postgraduate diplomas and Bachelor’s Degrees were conferred during this Convocation.
