Timely Concerns Discussed During 24 Div-initiated Workshop

A workshop to educate All Ranks on a multitude of concerns and future perspectives of the Army got underway at the 24 Division Headquarters on Wednesday (19) with the intention of boosting the efficiency of soldiers under the theme, ‘Future Plans of the Army by Exploring the Present Context’.

A series of lectures on topics such as the ‘Role of Army Soldiers to Establish National Reconciliation and Development’, ‘Role of Army to Mitigate Death Toll in Accidents and Suicides', ‘Role of Army Personnel to Prevent Drug Addiction', etc were delivered by eminent lecturers and resource personnel, invited to the sessions by Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding 24 Division since those topics touch on current developments in society.

The project launched with the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake enabled the participants to interact with the attendees where question sessions were also conducted.

At the invitation of the GOC 24 Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Lucian Sooriyabandara, ASP - Mahaoya/ Ampara II, Psychiatrist, Dr. Shiranthi Wijesundara, Ampara General Hospital, Mr. M. M G B M Rashad, Counsellor National Dangerous Drugs Control Board - Ampara District, and Brigadier M.W.A.A Wijesuriya, Commander 112 Brigade delivered those lectures and conducted question-answer sessions.

More than 250 troops participated in these programmes.
