Tigers Cornered to NFZ

MULLAITTIVU: ARMY troops by Thursday (9) afternoon brought the remaining thin area west of PUTUMATTALAN under their control after killing some terrorists in the area.

Capture of this area left no land for the troops to clear from the LTTE except the “No Fire Zone” (NFZ).

Troops later recovered seven LTTE dead bodies, nine T-56 weapons, one I com set and a damaged tractor with its trailer.

The same day (9) troops conducting clearing operations in the general areas of PUTUMATHALAN west and PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU recovered eleven T-56 weapons, two I-com sets, twenty-one claymore mines, one hundred and two 122 mm artillery rounds and four magazines of FNC guns.

Meanwhile, one LTTE decomposed dead body, twenty-five Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) links, three T-56 weapons, three magazines and twenty rounds of T-56 ammunition were found by the troops conducting search and clear operations in the general areas of ALANKULAM and MANKULAM Thursday (9).
