Thunukkai - Oddusuddan Students Recite 'Bhakthi Gee' &;amp; Stage 'Pataachaara' in Tamil

Hundreds of children studying in once infamous Oddusuddan - Thunukkai areas under 64 Division Headquarters area of the Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) joined hands together with troops and civilians to mark the festival of lights (Vesak) during May 5-7.

Sil campaigns, blood donation projects, free distribution of cooked food (Dansel), staging of Buddhist dramas, most of them conducted by Tamil school children themselves dominated the festivities that were actively organized and coordinated by Thunukkai Zonal Education Office in collaboration with the Northern Province Education Department’s office.

Thunukkai Zonal Education Director in close cooperation with Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT organized the maximum participation of school children from Oddusuddan-Thunukkai areas in the commemorative event as a gesture of reconciliation and goodwill.

Those features including the presentation of devotional songs (Bhakthi Gee) and the Buddhist drama (Pataachaara), done in Tamil language became a huge attraction during the programme.

Major General Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, Brigadier H.W.M.S.D.B Pananwala, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division, Mr S. Sathyaseelan, Secretary to Ministry of Education Northern Province, Mrs Malani Weniton, Zonal Directress of Education (Thunukkai), Mrs S. Hapukotuwa, Assistant Director of Education (Northern Province), 641, 642 and 643 Brigade Commanders and several other guests attended the ceremonies.
