Three Foreign Envoys Pay Courtesy Calls on Commander of the Army

HE the Ambassador for Turkey in Sri Lanka, Deputy British High Commissioner and the US Defence Attaché paid courtesy calls on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake at the Army Headquarters on Thursday (27) and Friday (28) separately.

HE Mr. Tunca Ozcuhadar, Ambassador for Turkey in Sri Lanka, during his visit to the Commander of the Army extended his best wishes on the Commander's new appointment and recalled friendly relations between both countries as well as trade links that exist.

During the brief meeting matters of mutual interests were also taken up for discussion.

At the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake presented a memento to the visiting Ambassador.

The 3rd secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey Mrs. Nazan Deniz was also present at the occasion.

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed, Deputy British High Commissioner for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Mr. Tom Burn and the Defence Attaché at the British High Commission in Colombo, Friday (28) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake at the Army headquarters.

During the interactive meeting that ensued, both of them exchanged views on bilateral relations.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, appreciated the cooperation and the cordial working relations that prevail between the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka. Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake wished him good luck in his new appointment.

Towards the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Senanayake presented mementos to the guests as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation.

In the meantime, the newly-appointed Defence Attaché at the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hess Thursday (27) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.

During the cordial meeting, both of them exchanged views on matters of bilateral interests.

Lieutenant General Senanayake presented a memento to the visiting Defence Attaché as a symbol of memory at the end of the meeting.
