A three member group, including of two competitors and one official were selected from the Sri Lanka Army to represent Sri Lanka in the first Asian Self Defence Sport Festival - 2009.
The manager of the team Staff Sergeant H.A.D.D. Anuruddha of 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, the team member Corporal T.H.D.A. Tissa Kumara of 10th National Guard Battalion representing below 75 kg in Kumithe event and the team member Lance Corporal H.G.R. Niroshana of 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police representing below 55 kg in Kumithe event are to participate.
They posed for a photograph with the President and the Secretary of the Army Karate Committee before leaving the country.
