Tamil Course Ends in Certificate Awarding Ceremony


A spoken Tamil language course conducted intensively for a period of 35 days for the best interest of soldiers serving the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, (SFHQ-KLN), ended with a certificate-awarding ceremony on Monday (27).

The course came into being, following a proposal of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN, was conducted by lecturers at the Tamil Language Training Centre at Kotmale.

The course was held from 22 September to 27 October with the participation of 27 students.

Corporal R.M.S.K Abeykoon of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), Rifleman K.V.N Kumara of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and Private R.W.P.S.B Ekanayaka of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) were adjudged the best three in the course securing  1st, 2nd, 3rd slots respectively in the final examination.

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN as the Chief Guest for the occasion held a brief speech and gave away certificates to all those 27 soldiers who followed the course. The ceremony held at AIPT School, Baarathipuram on Monday (27) was attended by many senior officers including General Officers Commanding and Brigade Commanders.

SFHQ-KLN troops would be benefited largely following this knowledge of Tamil since they move about in areas where Tamil language is widely spoken.
