Following an initiative taken by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), troops of the 1 Gajaba Regiment (GR) renovated and restored the dilapidated Bhikku living room (awaasage) at Nabadagasdigiliya Sri Neegrodharama temple at Oyamaduwa, Anuradhapura and formally handed it over to the chief monk at the temple.
Mrs Jayasuriya on seeing the dilapidated condition of the building in which the chief monk was living, she pledged to give support of the SVAB for its repairs and renovation.
1 GR Troops, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel H.P.I Perera undertook the responsibility and carried out the repairs within a short period of time. On April 11, the project, meant to invoke merits on fallen War Heroes and commemorate the Sri Sambudhatwa Jayanthiya was formally handed over to the monk during a simple ceremony.
