Sri Lankan Army Chief among Invitees at DSA in Malaysia

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army was among one of the distinguished invitees to the ongoing 16th edition of Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

DSA - 2018 and National Security NATSEC Asia was ceremonially inaugurated on Sunday (15) in Kuala Lumpur during a formal ceremony and a reception, held at Shangri-La Hotel, graced by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and Minister of Defence, Malaysia, flanked by a host of military chiefs, drawn from more than 60 different countries in the world.

The Sri Lankan delegation, led by Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne, Chief of Defence Staff and Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army attended the ceremonial inauguration of the 16th edition of Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference and the NATSEC Asia at the newly-built Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The DSA since its inception in 1988 has made an impressive milestone in the defence show industry and showcases some of the world's most sophisticated technologies, hardware and electronic warfare in land, air and sea defence, combat medicine, homeland security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, UAVs and combat robotics.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake on the sidelines of the ongoing sessions and the exhibition had the privilege of meeting several VIP foreign officials attending the event. Among them was his courtesy call on General Robert B. Brown, Commanding General, United States Army Pacific at the government office suite, MITEC.

On Tuesday (17), Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, together with all Army chiefs attending the event sat with Malaysian Chief of Army Staff for the Round Table Talk, termed as the ChART. The sessions centered on the theme, 'Role of the Army in Sustaining Security against the Threat of Radicalism & Terrorism'.

Elsewhere were other conference sessions which focused on themes, like 'Sovereignty & Security Our Mission', 'Cyber Security', 'Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive, Military Medicine', etc.

More than 300 VVIPs including Chiefs of Armed Forces from 40 regions with national security delegations are currently attending the DSA 2018 and NATSEC 2018 in Malaysia.

A host of ministers and the Prime Minister of Malaysia were expected to attend the event.
