SRI LANKA ENTERS HISTORIC PHASE: SECY DEFENCE &;amp; TRI-SERVICE CHIEFS INFORM PRESIDENT

COLOMBO: SRI LANKA adding a new chapter in the annals of national leaders in her contemporary history received a tremendous moral, economic and socio-cultural boost Monday (18) evening at 1830 hrs when Secretary Defence, Chief of  Defence Staff, Tri-Service Commanders, Inspector General of Police and Director General, Civil Security Department formally conveyed HE President MAHINDA RAJAPAKSA of the end of the country’s long-drawn War.

Secretary Defence GOTABAYA RAJAPAKSA, who tirelessly devoted to the noble mission, not only as an administrator official but also as a former military veteran was the first to inform President RAJAPAKSA of the completion of the arduous task assigned to him in his official capacity as Secretary Defence. He greeted the President who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal DONALD PERERA, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General SARATH FONSEKA, Navy Commander Vice Admiral WASANTHA KARANNAGODA, Air Force Commander Air Marshal ROSHAN GOONATHILAKE, Inspector General of Police JAYANTHA WICKRAMARATHNE and Rear Admiral (retd) S.P. WEERASEKARA, Director General, Civil Security Department followed suit. Prime Minister RATHNASIRI WICKRAMANAYAKE and several Ministers were also present on the occasion.
