Sri Lanka Artillery Troops Accord Guard of Honour to Visiting Prime Minister of Singapore

Sri Lanka Army troops as has been the practice on many state receptions and functions, presented a colourful Guard of Honour salute to the visiting Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong at the Presidential Secretariat premises Tuesday (23) during the formal state reception, hosted by HE the President, Maithripala Sirisena.

The visiting Singapore's Head of State Mr Lee Hsien Loong took the salute from the special dais, in the company of his host, HE the President Maithripala Sirisena. Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army was also in attendance during the parade.

Seventy two soldiers and two Army Officers of the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment took part in the Guard of Honour salute. The Colour Party bearing the President’s Colours was led by an Army Officer with three Army personnel.

A 19-round gun salute also added dignity to the occasion as part of state honours.

The cultural troupes of the Sri Lanka Army and those of the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, and Police were also associated with the ceremonial welcome, extended to the Singapore Prime Minister.

A group of Ministers, Diplomats and senior officers, including Hon Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe were present at the elegant ceremony. Singapore's Prime Minister will stay here for three days on an officially invitation, extended to him by the President of Sri Lanka.
