Soldiers Learn More about Agriculture


Promotion of possibilities for growth of own vegetable requirements and use of new techniques of seed planting was the central topic that was touched upon during a lecture delivered to the troops serving the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Tuesday (22), following an invitation extended to Gannoruwa Agriculture Research Development Institute. 

More than 100 soldiers, interested in agriculture listened to the lecture delivered by two agricultural instructors, Mr Kumudu Abeykoon and Mr R.M.C Ratnayake which covered areas like seed breeding, seed planting, nutritional values, use of chemicals, production of carbonic manure, etc.

The programme attended by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN was contributed to by another senior Army officer who talked about the use of chemicals for vegetable production.
