SLSR Troops at Ambepussa Contribute Their Part to Vesak Commemoration

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Headquarters at Ambepussa, together with its hundreds of Army members, contributed to the successful conduct of the Vesak ceremony by declaring a Vesak zone in the area, open to the general public.

Many colourful and giant Vesak lanterns, Bakthi Gee (devotional songs) recitals, conduct of Dansel (free eateries), observance of religious programmes, erection of a pandal along the road patch between the SLSR Regimental Headquarters entrance and Vardhanaramaya temple in Ambepussa.

Both the Dansela and other exhibits attracted hundreds of Vesak sight-seers who were out visiting Vesak decorations during May 3-5. The inauguration of the SLSR Vesak arrangements was done by Brigadier B.A.L Rathnayake, Centre Commandant-SLSR, together with the Deputy Commandant, senior officers and other distinguished personnel of the area.

The arrangements were prepared by SLSR troops at the Regimental Headquarters.
