SLSC War Heroes Immortalized in Opening Their War Memorial


One of the Sri Lanka Army’s prominent support unit, Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) immortalized the memory of 272 fallen War Heroes in a series of commemorative ceremonies in the past few days at Panagoda SLSC Regimental Centre.

The commemorative ceremonies reached their climax when the SLSC unveiled its War Memorial Saturday (1) evening in solemn ceremony, headed by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army who was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

The commemorative ceremonies started on Friday (31) with an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony plus Heel Daanaya and alms-giving to members of the Maha Sangha  on Saturday (1) on the directions of Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSC.

At the monument opening ceremony, the Commander paid his respect to SLSC War Heroes by placing a floral wreath and unvailing of the plaque.

The Commander on arrival was greeted to a Guard Turnout. Later the Commander addressed a section of SLSC senior officers and reminded them of their future engagements to suit fast developing communication technology in the world.
