The finals in the Judo tournament and the prize awarding ceremony of the Army Inter Regiment Judo Championship - 2017 was held on Thursday (30) at Panagoda Army Cantonment gymnasium.
The Inter Regiment Judo Tournament was held under team and individual categories to suit weight categories.
More than 200 male and female competitors representing 18 Regiments of the Army competed in the Judo Competition during 26-30 November.
Major General Dampath Fernando, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters attended the final closing ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Brigadier Shantha Dehiwatte, Chairman, Army Judo Committee.
Championship in team events and overall competition were won by the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) scoring 53 marks while Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), became runners-up by scoring 14 marks.
In the novices category, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) secured the championship while Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) team won the Runners-up slot. The overall team championship was secured by the SLSR team members.
