SLNG Colonel of the Regiment Arrives at SLNG Hqrs

The new Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) Major General Piyal Wickramaratne recently made a formal visit to the SLNG Regimental Headquarters Battalion at Weharawatta, Kurunegala.

Major General Piyal Wickramaratne was greeted on his arrival to a Guard Turnout at the entrance. A tree sapling was planted later in the camp premises to mark the visit of the Colonel of the Regiment.

Major General Wickramaratne commended the selfless sacrifices that have been made by Guardians in the island’s three-decade long armed struggle against separatist terrorism during a brief address to the occasion.

The event was attended by the SLNG Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Regimental Staff Officers and Council Members.

Later on, the Regimental Council meeting of the SLNG got underway in the same evening at the Regimental conference hall. It was the first council meeting chaired by the new Colonel of the Regiment Major General Piyal Wickramaratne after assuming office.
